EXCLUSIVE: IGOH OGBU says Slavia Prague ready to face the Champions League elite

Nigeria International Igoh Ogbu is confident in the Slavia Prague Champions League prospects next season, insisting they can hold their own against the best teams in Europe.

He credits his manager to play a key role in his development, praising his influence both in and out of the field.

The former npfl -star added: “Jindrich is an amazing coach. Defense is one of his specialties, and he really helped me grow – not only in the field but also mentally and personally.

“He really cares about the team, making sure we are well in the field and outside the field. His door is always open, and he encourages us to talk to him whenever there is a problem.

“This kind of support has played a major role in building my trust and pushing me to become a better player.”

What about OGBU’s future?

Thanks to his impressive shows for Slavia Praga, Ogbu has attracted much interest. However, the Nigerian defender is quick to address speculation about his future.

“I recently signed a new contract with Slavia Praga, which lasts until 2027,” He said.

“For me, the future is now and it has already begun. My focus is fully on performance in the Champions League and League. After that, we will see what the future holds.”

On the international scene, OGBU represented the U20 team of Nigeria at both African Cups of Africa U-20 Africa 2019 and the FIFA U-20 World Cup, making seven appearances during the Flying Eagles’ campaign in Poland.

He made his high international debut during the successful campaign of the 2025 Unity Cup in London. He appeared in a 1-1 draw against Russia in Moscow, coming as a late replacement for Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
