Real Madrid defender Lucas Vazquez will leave the club, Spanish Giants confirmed on Wednesday.

After his agreement expired at the end of the season, Los Blancos had agreed an extension of the short -term contract for the Spaniard to hold it for the World Cup, which they competed in the United States this summer.

“Vazquez Represents by example the values of Madrid truewhich has made him one of the most beloved players from our fans, ” Madrid President Florentino Perez said in a statement.

“(He) symbolizes tireless work, perseverance, humility and the essential winning spirit to succeed in this shirt.”

Initially one side, the 34-year-old won 23 trophies in the club, including the five champions leagues and four Laliga titles, mainly as a team player.

“I leave Real Madrid but Real Madrid will never leave me,” said Vazquez in a farewell video.

The Spaniard came through the youth system in Madrid and spent his entire career in the club, with the exception of a loan to Espanyol In the 2014-15 season, playing 402 times in all races for Los Blancos.
