Ion Rahm irritated laps back to fans of whistles during the first round open
Jon Rahm minimized a fierce interaction with a fan during the first round of the open championship on Thursday.
The Spaniard was playing the 10th 10th hole in Royal Portrush in northern Ireland when he sent his shot to the right. He immediately addressed a spectator who had made a whistle noise during RahmIt’s your back.
“Really? Fish? Right, good time,” Rahm said. “Right in my back. Very smart, whoever it was.”
Rahm would go to Bogey Hole along with the following one. Liv Golf star reached a bird in 14 and ended with a 1-nine 70.
“I mean, if I were to paint a picture, you have the hardest goal on the course, raining, on the wind from the left, it’s enough,” Rahm told reporters. “I know they are not doing this on purpose. It seems someone was trying to take someone for whatever it may be. It was bad time.
“I think I’ve only used the moment to leave any tension I had in me. It really isn’t – it’s what it is. Being honest, probably didn’t affect it as much as it sounded. It was a bad rhythm too. Just a hard hole.
“I mean, it’s disappointing, but it’s what it is. It is a daily thing in golf.”
Rahm, 30, is going a racing conclusion at the Liv event in Andalucia, Spain, last week. Its best completion in Open was a tie for the second two years ago, and Rahm was tied to the US last month after a T8 in the Championship PGA and a T14 in Masters.
The big champion is twice looking to finish a third foot of Grand Slam career this week. He has a victory in the Masters and SH.BA tournament for his loan.
“There are only a few things that would make this so special. Not only do you get to three degrees, being the second Spanish player (along with Ballesteros) to win an open and being the only one up to three different diplomas, which would be – yes, makes it very, very special, at the top of everything that is already.”
