The new Zealand Glenn Phillips has withdrawn from the team tour in Zimbabwe because of a groin injury, the country’s board said on Friday.

Phillips, who suffered damage during the final of Major League Cricket in Dallas, would require “a few weeks” to recover, New Zealand Cricket said in a statement.

The 28-year-old will lose tri-yesalso including South Africaand subsequent two -rehearsal series against Zimbabve hosts.

New Zealand is already without shooting Finn Allen, who was expelled from Tri-seria with an foot injury that suffered in MLC.

“It’s obviously disappointing to lose someone of Glenn’s caliber,“Said coach Rob Walter.

“Like Fin, we really feel about Glenn and that he misss in this series.

“We know he was eager to go out on the field for Blackcaps and unfortunately, he will not be able to do so for this series.

“We know he will work hard to get back to the park, and I look forward to when that happens.“

Phillips replacement in the test team will be named later, NZC added.
