England ready to get Spain in the Euro 2025 final, says Leah Williamson
England’s captain Leah Williamson admits that Spain are “the best in what they do” but is convinced that her side can compete with the champions of the royal world in Sunday’s final at Euro 2025.
“Tomorrow we play a game against world champions that continue to prove themselves over and over in the way they play football,” Williamson reporters told Basel’s St Jakob-Park on the eve of the game.
“They are a fantastic football team, they are the best in what they do, and we are very aware of that, but we think we are very good in some areas.
“We must be at our maximum to defeat SpainBut I think they will have to be at their maximum to beat us too.
“I think there is a lot of respect between the two teams, and I would be reluctant to say that we are subjected to this scenario.”
England are hoping to hold the title of the European Championship they won on the house in 2022, but the match is also a Repeat World Cup final 2023in which Spain triumphed 1-0 in Sydney.
There is a growing rivalry between nations, with England winning extra time when they collided in the quarter -finals in Euro 2022.
The parties have also already faced each other twice this year at UEFA Nations League, with England winning 1-0 in Wembley in February.
Spain retaliated that result by claiming a 2-1 win in Barcelona at the beginning of last month, when Claudia Pina marked twice after Alessia russo He had given England the direction.
“We have played each other very over the past two years and I think you always have lessons from the games we have played,” England coach Sarina Wiegman said.
“Tomorrow is a new situation where we have an opportunity to hope to remove their strengths a little and use some of their weaknesses.”
England has sweaty in the gym of Lauren James for the final after she left with a leg injury during the last last victory ITALYBut Wiegman indicated that the winger is on the line to show up on Sunday.
“We had 23 players on the field today and everyone came,” said the Dutch coach.
Chloe Kelly and new striker Michelle Agyemang are pressuring the beginnings after having influenced the bench in the return victories against the two Sweden and Italy in the last two rounds. Williamson, however, believes that James has a lot to offer.
“We have a team of talented players. Lauren brings something a little different, obviously, to have its disposal is the best case scenario,” said Arsenal center.
