Mann utd 4-1 athletic bilbao (7: 1 overall): Believe the most important European league to win
The head coach of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim, says that the belief that would go hand in hand with the profit of the Europa League is worth more on his side than any financial profit.
United survived a wobble in the first half on Thursday, in order to finally defeat the Spanish team 7-1 with 7-1 and set up an all-English final against Tottenham.
Beating Spurs would also lead to a qualified Champions League qualification for 2025-26, which would lead to a conservative estimate of 100 million GBP in United’s health insurers.
“The money is not the most important thing,” said Amorim. “To win a title as a coach, has a feeling, a feeling that we can do good things so that we can give our fans something.
“I agree that it will not only play the Champions League in the next season. It is the feeling that we can change things.”
After Amorim won 3-0 in Bilbao, he could not be sure which version of his united team would appear for the second leg, and so it proved when they fought for 70 minutes against the Basque Outfit.
United was 1-0 and looked nervous before, thanks to two goals from Mason, on both sides of the efforts of Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund.
For a trainer who was brought with him because he has a certain style of play, the admission that he will not happen at a certain point in time must bring amorim to the shower.
“I should be a better manager at that moment,” said the Portuguese. “The team should be better at that moment.
“But we try it. We were pretty good in Europe, but we have a lot to fight in the Premier League.”
Amorim’s team certainly fought Tottenham this season.
They have already lost three times against Poseteclous men and only won twice in the Premier League against Ipswich and Leicester, since the third of these returns in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in February.
However, Tottenham was no better than United this season and stays in the table behind Amorim’s team.
Postecoglou is generally expected to leave, win or lose his job at the end of the season.
“Both teams will play everything or nothing,” said Amorim, who was appointed United head coach in November 2024.
“The position of the trainer is similar, I know that there is another year (in his job), but we both have problems. That is the good.”
