Eredivisie: Ajax Target Paul Simonis extends the contract in Go Ahead Eagles
Go ahead of Eagle’s manager, Paul Simonis, extended his contract at the Eredivisie club after a historic season.
Simonis and his staff extended their contracts for one year, signing agreements by June 2027.
“I’m very happy about it” Simonis says on the club’s website. “I’m enjoying my time a lot in this great club. It was a very good proposal from the club, showing a lot of confidence and appreciation.”
40-year-old Simonis is reported to be AjakShort list for managerial work. Italian manager Francesco Farioli left the club last Monday, less than 24 hours after officially lost the Eredivisie title in the PSV. With the expansion of Simonis, Ajax is likely to have to continue.
Simonis joined the club in the summer of 2024 as he received his first managerial work. The former Heerenveen’s help impressed his Go in front of eagles Anna, showing a modern brand of attractive football, attackers along the way.
Simonis won a legendary status at the club after winning KNVB Bener in April, the first major trophy in the history of the club, after a penalty victory against AZ. The Cup victory provided the club a place in the UEFA Europa League stage of next season, which will score the first time Eagles will play European football since the 1960s.
