CAF officially confirms 2024 Chan for Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda after final inspection
The African Football Confederation (CAF) has officially provided the green light for the three nations of East Africa – Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania – to co -owned at the African 2024 August Nations Championship.
This was confirmed after a very successful eight-day reception inspection tournament, which was led by various CAF functional directions from key departments such as competitions, marketing, media, transmission, security and security and infrastructure, which were joined by their local counterparts of the organizing committee.

CAF gives green light for Chan in East Africa
The African body has now confirmed that a recent tournament tour in the host countries for the next tour has been pleased with the work done and that the tournament will now begin as planned from August 2 and will last until August 30.
According to CAF, the last round of inspections and workshops began in Nairobi, Kenya, where the CAF delegation conducted final inspections at Kasareni Stadium – the hosts of the final, as well as Nyayo Stadium.

Benjamin Mkapa i Tanzania at RED Es Salaam will host the opening match, Nelson Mandela Stadium in Kam Kampala, Uganda, is scheduled to wait for the third and fourth match of the event, while Kasarani Stadium in Kennya in Nairobi will host the final match of the competition on August 30th.
Zanzibar has been added to the places that will host the tournaments of the tour, with the new Amaan stadium, which recently organized a successful CAF Confederation Cup final final between Tanzania’s Simzania’s SC and RS Berkane in May, set to host Group D matches.
According to CAF, the stages of the tour groups will be as follows: Group A, which includes Kenya, Morocco, Angola, Dr Dr KongoAND Zambiawill be based on Nairobi.

The tour will begin on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at RED ES Salaam with a match between co-host Tanzania and Burkina Faso at Benjamin McApa Stadium at 8pm.
On Sunday, August 3, Nairobi will host two games. Kenya, under South African coach Benni McCarthy, will play their opening at 15:00 with local time against the Democratic Republic of Congo in Kasareni. Later at 6pm with local time, Morocco will take Angola to Nyayo Stadium.
At 20:00, the action will return to the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Tanzani, where Madagascar will play Mauritania on a bumper on the Sunday. The opening matches in Kampala will be played on Monday, August 4, when co-perpetrators play Algeria at 8pm with local time, while before that, Niger will play Guinea at 17:00 with local time in the same place.
The fourth place play-off will be played at Kampala on Friday, August 29, 2025, in Mandela Stadium. Starting is scheduled for 18:00 local. Kasarani of Nairobi on the outskirts will wait for the final the next day, Saturday, August 20, 2025, at 18:00 with local time.
Playing at home is a great advantage
Kenya’s national team, Harambee Stars Captain Aboud Omar believes playing their group matches will be a big advantage for the East African nation, which will participate in Chan for the first time in their history.

Meanwhile, Kenya’s cabinet secretary for sports, Salim Mvurya, has called on its citizens to gather after the Stars Harambee during the tournament.

Senegal will enter the competition as the royal champions, while Morocco and Dr Kongo keep the difference of being the most successful nations in Chan’s history, having won the tour twice each.
In addition, the Chan 2024 tournament will act as a test and attack of the curtain for the African Nations Cup planned to take place in the East African region in 2027. The tournament will welcome another participant for the first time, the Central Republic of Africa.
