Carlos Queiroz: Oman name Portuguese manager as new coach

Oman appointed former Real Madrid manager and Portugal Carlos Queiroz as their new coach on Tuesday as they bid to reach the 2026 World Cup.

Oman It arrived in the fourth round of World Cup qualifiers in Asia after finishing the fourth in Group B in last round, ending with a 1-1 draw with Palestine to secure their place in the next stage.

“Queiroz has extensive training experience, having led the national teams of Portugal, Iran, Colombia, Egypt and floor. He also served as assistant coach at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson, “ FA Oman said on the Social Media Platform X.

“The federation raises its thanks and appreciation to the previous technical staff, led by national coach Rashid Jaber, for their efforts over the past period, wishing them success in their future,” the Federation added.

Oman will join Iraq, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates in the fourth round draw, which takes place on July 17th.
