Coco gafff makes the open French start, despite forgetting the records in court
The second seed Coco Guff forgot to bring her missiles to court, but reminded her rivals for her French title ambitions with a strict 6-2, 6-2 victory over Australia Olivia Gadecki in the opening round on Tuesday.
The former American candidate was intentionally upset and showed her empty bag as her siege collided to supply her equipment after discovering she had left the missiles in the change rooms before the midday clash.
The finalist of Madrid and Rome constituted the short delay by strengthening the three opening matches and luggage the first set with a battle holding after releasing its service earlier.
“Honestly, I thought they put the records in the bag, and my side court bag is filled with drinks and everything,” Gauff told Sloane Stephens in TNT.
“So it felt like I had enough weight. Then I came to trial, and I opened the first chain. I was like, ‘Ok without record’. The second chain … ‘Oh my Lord. I went to trial without racats’. Usually JC (coach Jean-Christophe Faurel) inserts inside.
“I’ll see what happened.”
There was no look from there as Gaffs tightened her control in the match despite the conditions of Blustery and closed a comfortable win.
