England’s women: Royals and Prime Minister lead tribute to lions
King Charles III directed tribute to Lionesses of making England’s history after they won the women’s title at Euro 2025 in a dramatic final against Spain on Sunday.
Sarina Wiegman’s team held their nerve to survive in a tense penalty like Chloe Kelly marked the local hit of the point after two essential savings by Hannah Hampton.

“Well done, lions. The other task is to bring home the World Cup in 2027 if you can!”
Starmer congratulated Lionesses on making history with the second of their euro crowns.
Lionesses are the first top team of English national football to win a large tour of foreign land.

The men of England won the 1966 World Cup at home, and Lionesses captured the Wumtish Euro in Wembley in 2022.
“Champions! Congratulations, Lionesses – what team. Game affair. What drama,” Starmer said on X.
“You dug deep when it mattered more, and you made the nation proud. The creators of history.”
While Kelly and Company won Silverware in Switzerland, at home, street holidays, drinks and bars were full of England fans cheering their team to victory.
Proponents looked at the big screens at the Boxpark Croydon in the south London, exploding when Kelly scored her penalty.
Eco -fans danced on benches, shaken flags of England and threw drinks into the air after the ball hit the net.
The chief executive of the football association Mark Bullingham said a London victory parade on Tuesday would “give England fans an opportunity to celebrate with the players”.
