‘Hopefully we went down in time’: Joe McCarthy tournament in doubt
British & Irish Lions coach Andy Farrell called another Scottish reinforcement in his team in the form of Gregor Brown on Sunday as Joe McCarthy had to be replaced during the first test victory over Australia.
Irish McCarthy blocking was taken with a problem in the second part in the second part to Lang Park on Saturday After continuing his excellent shape with a storm performance as Lions dominated in Mourning before the break.
“Fascia“Farrell told reporters after lions defeated Wallabies 27-19 to go 1-0 up to three-match series.
“He was getting tired of him and hopefully we went down in time.“
Brown is the fourth player called by the Scotland squad who has just finished his tournament in the Pacific, joining the wing Darcy Graham and Props Rory Sutherland and Ewan Ashman.
Sutherland, Ashman and Brown played in the victory over Samoa in Auckland on Friday and will join the Lion’s squad on Sunday before the Lion’s last match against a first-Paisis XV nation in Melburn on Tuesday.
Farrell said after Saturday’s victory that two of his other concerns of damage, Scottish return Blair Kinghorn (Knee) and Irish Center Garry Ringrose could be ready to play in the stadium Docklands on Tuesday.
“Bler is doing well doing very well, so we will see it. And Garry is going well. So hopefully they continue that trajectory and may be available for Tuesday,“He said.
Lion’s earlier teams have been driven by divisions and dissatisfaction when it became clear who was on the test team and who would be confined to “sneak“Side to play midweek games.
Farrell said that Tuesday’s match, and not the second weekend test, was now the only focus for the entire tourist holiday.
“We take care of the team and nothing but the team and so has the whole time,“He said.
“We have never been separated once. We’ve all been in everything together. So we will enjoy this victory tonight together and travel to Melbourne tomorrow.
“Then everyone will roll over by making sure the team (for Tuesday) There is as good preparation as we have had all the tournaments, because it matters to us.“
Farrell also insisted that Saturday’s victory did not mean that players who lost the day of the match 23 for the first test would not be in quarrel to face Wallabies in Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday.
“Not necessarily, no, not necessarily,“He said.”People who compete, being open -minded in this way, this is what everyone deserves.“
