Poland’s four-time IgA Swiatik’s champion did easy job of British Grand Slam winner Emma Raducanu in their second round Open on Wednesday, scoring a 6-1, 6-2 win and extending its winning race in Paris in 23 consecutive games.

The number five world, seeking to become the first woman in the professional era since 1968 to win four consecutive titles in French Open, has now beaten the 2021 US Open champion in all five of their meetings – all victories coming in straight groups.

It will then meet or Czech Sara Bejlek OR Jaqueline cristian of Romania.

“I just wanted to play my game”, Swiatik said “I felt good in court. I thought I could do what I had planned, adapt to the conditions because it was windy. I am happy to do it well and I’m going through.

“Maybe the high rotation I play,” she said when asked about the reason for her success in the Parisian clay. “I like to play here. This place inspires me and makes me work more. I’m just ready to fight for and compete.”

With her opponent holding the pressure, Raducanu, who was sick before her first -round match earlier during the week, was prey and lost her last three games on the trot while Swiattek finished victory with a stunning back down line at her second point of match.
