IPL: The mayor hopes League can be expanded to 94 matches and 10 teams from 2028

The Indian Premier League is hoping to expand to a 94-seven season in 2028 which would allow each of the 10 teams in the competition to play each other at home and far, said Mayor Arun Singh Dhumal.

IPL extended to 74 matches in the 2022 season, when LuckNow Super Giants AND Gujarat Titans the newest exclusivities were made to join the League.

Asked if the tournament would expand further to the future calendar of the Cricket FTP International Council (the next tour program) starting in 2028, Dhumal said the discussions had begun with the world governing body and the Indian Board (BCCI).

“Ideally, we would like a larger window, or maybe go from 74 games to 84 or 94 at one point. So every team play against every team home and away, you need 94 matches,” Dhumal said Unchanged WITHIN an interview Published Monday.

“Given the window and type of commitments we have about bilateral events of cricket and ICC, which may not be possible in the short term … There have been so many crickets.

“We (INDIA) returned from Australia From a series of test, we had this champions trophy, and at the top of this we have this IPL. That is why it is decided that it makes no sense to go from 74 to 84 (in 2025), but whenever we think time is appropriate, we will receive that call. “

Increasing the linguistic ligament leagues twenty20 has further strained the swollen Cricket calendar, with the introduction of new races in recent years by reducing the windows available for test and one-day cricket.

Some international players have chosen to withdraw from certain formats due to schedule requirements.
