Lando Norris praised by chief McLaren Zak Brown for ‘Great’ improvement at Monaco Grand Prix

McLaren team chief Zak Brown said a change of mentality was the key to Lando Norris’s success after the British driver claimed an impressive win at Sunday’s Grand Prix in Monaco.

Was a much -needed victory for CorrosionIts second year after a season opening win in Australia, and shortened McLaren Team-Mate PlasticLeader in the title race in three points after eight races of 2025.

“I think he is just very focused,” said Brown.

“He has an excellent championship chance, and he has undoubtedly had some battles in Q3 qualification. So, to make it be here in the Q3 in Monte Carlo was great.”

Brown explained that he had helped Norris reduce his level of personal self-criticism by suggesting that he should stop to worry about running the perfect lap.

“Just focus and kind don’t worry if you don’t get in the perfect lap. Do the best you can and give it another,” He said, referring to his qualification in particular.

“And this is exactly what happened, isn’t we going out and we got two laps with both our sons. And the first one was really good, but it was not as good as the second time he did it.”

It was evident that Norris’s usual self-analytical reaction after the qualification had been replaced by a cooler and more detached mood on Saturday.

He was less euphoric than expected and simply pleased, fortunately, a reaction that was more like that of his teammate who has remained calm and sustainable this year.

After a number of disappointing shows in the qualification, Norris produced a lap of records to get poles and followed it with a perfect Sunday race to set an interesting scrap in this year’s driver’s title race.
