Luis Rubiales: The Supreme Court of Spain supports the sentence in Jenni Hermoso Kiss case
On Wednesday, the Supreme Court of Spain supported a verdict that found former President of the Football Federation Luis Rubiales guilty of sexual assault on an unsolicited kiss on the lips of national team player Jenni Hermoso at the 2023 World Cup in Sidney.
The court dismissed numerous complaints against the sentence, reaffirming Rubiales kissed Beautiful Without her consent during the medal ceremony after Spain’s women had won the trophy, according to the first Reuters decision.
Rubiales was fined over 10,000 euros and was acquitted of coercion charges along with the three defendants. Prosecutors had requested a two -and -a -half year prison sentence and called for retrial, both were fired.
The incident sparked a wide debate about sexism in Spanish society and women’s football, promoting momentum for ‘Too’ movement in the country.

Rubiales argued that his actions were motivated by uncontrollable joy, but the court ruled that his limitation with other players and attendees demonstrated that he could have avoided such behavior with Hermoso.
“Since that emotion did not make him express his joy effectively by kissing other players or accompanying people in the box, and he contained himself, he could also have done so, without much effort, with the team captain,” the court said.
