Manny Pacquiao impresses in return to the ring, but only falls out of victory against Mario Barrios
Manny Pacquiao’s offer to make a turning tale in the age of 46 ended up in disappointment on Saturday, as the Philippine icon was held in a draw defending the WBC Welterweight Mario Barrios champion in Las Vegas.
Bargain30, held his belt despite being dominated for several rounds by Pacquiaowho was making a return to the ring after a four -year pension.
Barrios was given the war 115-113 by one judge, with the other two cards that marked it 114-114.
The result withdrew a reaction subjected to the crowd of MGM Grand Garden Arena, which had been banging in Pacquiao during a sharp, difficulty contest with difficulty.
Sometimes, it seemed as if Pacquiao was about to write another impossible chapter in his 30-year professional career as he used all his deception and experience to irritate Barrios.
But Barrios gathered with anger over the last three rounds – he was praised the winner of those rounds on all three cards – to do enough to force a result that sees him to keep his title.
“I thought I won the war,” Pacquiao said next. “I mean, it was a close fight. My opponent was very tough. But it was a wonderful war.
“I was trying to find a way to finish the war, but my opponent was so harsh. He threw punches in combination and with protection, so it was difficult.”
Barrios, meanwhile, felt he had done enough to deserve the draw.
“I thought I brought it out,” Said Barrios. “But I still give my hat Manny. It was an honor to share the ring with him, someone with so much experience that has achieved so much in this sport. We left everything in the ring, nothing but love and respect.”
Barrios admitted that he was awakened by the extraordinary reserves of Pacquiao’s energy and sustainability.
“This is crazy – his endurance, he can still hit and he is still strong as hell. His time, his rhythm, everything. He was still a very difficult warrior,” He said.
Barrios said he had become aware that he needed to raise his work level to force the result in the rounds.
“I knew I had to grow it to try and strengthen a victory,” Barrios said.
“I was really suppressing him, trying to make him feel old. But he has some good legs – a lot of reservoirs and a lot of struggles left in it.
Pacquiao, meanwhile, said he hoped to continue the fighting and would be open to a match with Barrios.
“Of course, of course,” He responded when asked if he wanted to continue his career and face Barrios again.
“This is the only legacy I can leave behind – give inspiration to the Philippine people and be proud wherever you are.”
Barrios, for his part, added that he was open to face Pacquiao again.
“I would like to do it again,” he said during a ring interview.
Pacquiao, whose last victory came in 2019, was regarded as a heavy person against his longest opponent, more distant from Texas.
But Champion Filipino with eight divisions, one of the most beloved warriors in the era, showed little sign that he was worried about long periods.
Struggling in Flurries and lowering fresh combinations throughout, Pacquiao constantly seemed the fighter loader during the early and middle rounds.
In contrast, Barrios appeared on the test, he did not want to risk going to foot early against the experienced Philippine.
However, for all Pacquiao’s craft, he was unable to seriously harm Barrios, who were impressive in later rounds to connect with some nodes and make enough to force the draw.
