Monday Serie A matches were called after Pope Francis’s death
The four series A matches planned on Monday have been postponed to a later date after the death of Pope Francis, the Italian high flight said in a statement.
Udinez’s game in Turin, Fiorentina’s visit to Cagliari, Geno’s match against Lazio AND Juventus’ journey to Parma will be renewed.
Games will have to get into a busy finish for the season, potentially clashing with the Champions League semifinal.
Serie A also pushed matches in her youth league.
The Italian Football Federation (Figc) announced that all games in professional football and amateur Monday would be planned until a later date.
Figc greeted the Pope as “an example of Christian charity and dignity in suffering, always near the football world”.
The Vatican said Pope Francis, a beloved football fan, died at the age of 88 on Monday.
