PGA Tour Remove Initial Attacks from Season Turea Championship
Starting will be eliminated from the tour championship in the season, announced Tuesday PGA Tour on Tuesday, with the Play Off’s final with 30 men played as a 72-holes.
Players in previous years were given an amazed lead based on FedEx Cup season points with last year’s winner Scottie Scheffler Starting from 10th and ending at 30th to defeat other American friends Collin Morikawa With four strokes after Morikawa started with four under.
Over 72 holes, Morikawa was 26 years old and Scheffler was 20th, but the beginning of II started Scheffler Crown of FedEx Cup.
The Tour Player Advisory Council and the Policy Board adopted changes in the Play form format on Tuesday that will have all players starting at the first level as in a usual tour.
The new format will be played at this year’s tour championship in East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta from 21 to 24 August.
“Today’s announcement is an important first step in the evolution of our season after season,” said PGA Tour Jay Monahan.
“The player’s advisory council led a full process to respond to what our fans are looking for: the most competitive golf in the world, played for the highest actions, in the most direct and attractive format.”
Other changes in the Tour Championship include changing courses settings to encourage more risk reward choices across every round to help build the drama.
The Play off format will narrow the field with 30 players, but the player’s advisory council is studying the one -eyed qualification system to increase the value of season points and keep the field tougher to reach the tournament.
Other ideas are being considered with possible announcements that come later this year.
“We want the tournament to be the most difficult tournament to qualify and the FedEx Cup trophy the hardest to win,” Said Scheffler number one world.
“Moving the Tour championship in a more direct format with a tougher course configuration makes it easier for fans to follow and offers a more challenging test for players, which brings the best competition.”
This year’s Tour Championship will present the 30 best players in the points who have progressed from two preliminary Play Off events: Championship 70-Player St. Jude at Southwind TPC in Memfis and BMW Championship with 50 players in Caves Valley Golf Club on Owings Mills, Maryland.
