Premier League Rugby: Geoff Parling to replace Michael Cheika as coach of Leicester Tigers

Former Leicester Tigers Liker Geoff Parling will replace Michael Cheika as the main coach for the next season after his assistant role with Australia ends, the Prime Minister’s English club said on Monday.

First Australia Coach Cheika will leave when his contract expires at the end of the campaign, with the club always aware that he would leave after a year at work.

“I was lucky enough to have some extraordinary moments in the Leicester Tigers jersey, done through hard work by good people, and so I’m extremely proud to be returning to lead the club,” Parling said in a statement by Leicester.

“It is not likely that they would make themselves and my family think of leaving Australia, the place we have called home for the last seven years,” Parling added.

Leicester announced Cheika’s departure at the end of January, and the former Wallabies coach met with Australia’s Director General Phil Waugh in February, promoting speculation that he would return to Australia’s work when Schmidt withdrew.

However, Les Kiss has been confirmed by Schmidt’s successor, who was expected to leave in October, but agreed to remain until July 2026.
