Rangers, Hibs and Dundee United discover European opponents

Panathinaikos’ visit on July 22nd and the return in the following week Russell Martin’s first competition games will be marked as Rangers Head coach and the former boss of Southampton were received the hardest of his possible draws, even though the Ibrox team had been sown.

Like Rangers, all three potential opponents were runners-up in their domestic leagues, while the Greek team in the European Club ranking, 86 places behind Rangers, are the Swiss service (a after heart behind heart of Midlothian) and Norwegier Brann 189.

The team, which was administered by the former Egypt and Benfica head coach Rui Vitoria, ended 16 points behind Olympicos in the Greek Super League last season, after overtaking AEK Athens after the division was split.

Panathinaikos have lost in four meetings with Rangers, two with Motherwell and one with Aberdeen, never against Scottish opponents who won four of their seven games.

However, they were rangers who were promoted when they finally met the Ibrox page.

After the Greeks had hit 3-0 at home in the UEFA Cup Group 2007-08 Aberdeen, they left a 1-1 draw in Athens in the round of 32 after a 0-0 patent situation in Glasgow.

They had hit Rangers 3-1 at Ibrox and pulled 1-1 at home in the group of the Champions League in 2003, while in their last meeting with a Scottish team in 2012 with a 5-0 qualification in the third qualification of the Champions League.

Panathinaikos has not reached the Champions League since 2010/11 and started the Europa League qualifying and defeated Boetev Plovdiv last season, but lost to Ajax before qualifying for the conference league by Lens.

She lost 4-1 against the final winners Chelsea at home and defeated the new Saints in Wales in the new league stage 2-0 before finishing 13th before they defeated Vikingur Reykjavik in the KO-phase and then lost in the last 16 against Fiorentina.

Rangers lost her opening qualification for Champions League to Dynamo Kyiv last season under Philippe Clement, but reached the quarter -finals of the Europa League.

The teams who win their second qualification round are facing two more rounds to make the league.
