Sally Bolo defends Gor Mahia’s decision to build modern stadium in Machakos District

Premier League champions Football Football Federation (FKF) Gor Mahia have already confirmed their plans to build a modern stadium to host their future matches.

Leaded by club MP Eliud Owalo and President Ambrose Rachier, who were joined by newly elected officials led by Sally Bolo, the Kenyan Champions Record paid a visit to appreciate the suitability of the land for the stadium on April 24.

The club appreciated the adaptability of a 48 -hectare land in Lukenya, at the Daystar University in Machakos County for the purposes of setting a higher stadium and the sports complex that will not only anchor the club, but will exalt its brand in the continental phase.

According to Owalo, the proposed infrastructure will bring the main stadium with a 60,000 fans seat capacity, three training areas (for older teams, youth and queens), accommodation apartments for players and a four -star hotel.

Other devices in the complex include a home gym and convertible gymnasium, club offices, a media center, a swimming pool, recovery facilities, including a sauna, a block of administration, a goods shop, retail shops, bathrooms and abundant parking.

“We made a promise, to find a suitable place for EA construction Gor The stadium, and we are here turning that promise into action, “ Owalo said after visiting Sit. “The proximity of this site to Nairobi makes it ideal. It is accessible no matter how fans travel – by car, bus, or even on foot if they are as passionate as we know they are.”

For his part, Rachier said: “We simply pray for God to give us the wisdom and the ability to do the building we intend to do.”

Despite being the most successful club in Kenyan’s history, with 21 Premier League titles with their name, Gor Mahia lacked infrastructure to match her stature. Their plans to own a stadium have been on offer for many years, but in many cases have been stalled either due to lack of funds, land disputes or changes in club leadership.

Gor Mahia has used places in Nairobi for their league and continental matches. Countries include the stars of the city of Nairobi, Nyayo Stadium and Kasarani Stadium. Similarly, outside the city, they have taken matches at the Machakos Stadium, and Moi Stadium in Kisumu.

Gor Mahia should approach ‘Noble Venture’ with open mentality

According to Bolo, who was recently elected to serve the club’s management for the next four years as a vice president, despite the goals of building a stadium’s debate over the location of the proposed object, it was important that the club approached the noble entrepreneurship with an open and objective mentality.

“The steps that have been taken to ensure that Gor Mahia builds and/or owns its stadium are not only commendable, but to say at least, with long delay,” Bolo said. “In my honest opinion, Gor Mahia Stadium is a step in the right direction.

“This action has sparked debates from all neighborhoods, with anyone who does not rightly oppose the project, but there are concerns about the location of the proposed object. It is important to approach this noble venture with an open and objective mentality.”

Bolo went ahead to explain why it was necessary for the stadium to be built in Nairobi, saying that Gor Mahia’s historical and constant links with Nairobi were not second:

“Gor Mahia was founded in Nairobi and has been based there since 1968. Its home-registered bases are in Nairobi, and although the club occasionally receives home games in Kisumu or, most recently, in Homa-Bay (the subject of the Federation’s approval), Nairobi remains the heart of the club.

“Moreover, the origin of the club as a community -based institution, registered under the law of companies, should not be overlooked even though we are now under the act of sports.

“Founder members, very intellectual men (the late Tom Mboya, Samuel Ayany, Prof Bethwell Allan Ogot, Zack Ramogo, etc.), may have chosen to base the club exclusively within the borders of the Luo community, but their decision to place it on Nairob

Stadiums in Western Kenya have poor investment returns

Although Kenya had stadiums in the western part of Kenya, Bolo questioned how often these facilities are used for international high -profile events and what was the return of investment from these stages so far.

“Is it important to admit that there are already some stadiums in the western region, including two in Kisumu, one in Siyaya and another in Homa-Bay, with plans for a new district. The critical question here is: How often these facilities for international high profile events are used? Offered Bolo.

“Moreover, the situation of local football clubs in these areas, especially those in the high flight leagues, is another important factor. Are these clubs attracting large crowds to fill these stages and generate significant income that can contribute to their maintenance and improve international standards?”

According to Bolo, the construction of the Gor Mahia stadium in Nairobi will give the club’s trade sustainability, thereby increasing their financial sustainability. “I fully support the selection of the location of the proposed stadium for the following reasons:

“The new stadium should be seen mainly as a commercial enterprise. It will allow the club to save large quantities currently spent on hiring training bases for the elderly, youth and women’s teams. Moreover, the club will no longer need to rent stadiums for home matches, for both local and international ones.”

She added that the construction of the stadium will enable the club to enforce the rules of the FIFA World Body and the Rules of the African Football Confederation (CAF).

“FIFA and CAF regulations demand that matches played in places more than 200km outside the capital must have the local team to cover the cost of a flight team for the team and the match officials, in addition to the logistics for the local team,” Bolo explained.

“This regulation significantly increases the costs for any club that is not based on Nairobi. Having a stadium within the Nairobi environment, Gor Mahia will avoid these additional costs, making international matches more feasible and sustainable.”

It continued: “Once completed, the stadium will not only serve Gor Mahia, but will also house other sports disciplines, making it ideal to host high -level events. Its proximity to the airport and Mombasa Road makes it very accessible, further enhancing its potential as a center for international sports events and entertainment.

“The distance from Nairobi CBD to Kasarerani Stadium is similar to the proposed site Gor Mahia Stadium along the Mombasa road. However, the proximity of the new location with the highway will reduce travel time, making it more suitable for fans. Transportation to the stadium will also be affordable, making it a fans.”

Bolo ended: “While concerns about the location of the new stadium are valuable, it is important to see the project as a long -term investment that will benefit from the club, the metropolitan city of Nairobi, and the wider sports community in Kenya.

“The club has attracted players from various Kenyan communities and throughout Africa. Everal examples include innocent Mutiso, Francis directionNicholas Kipkirui, Harun Shakava, Musa MohammedCharles Momonyi, Lukwam, Rama Salim, and many others. Today, as we talk, the club continues to attract talent from different ethnicities and countries.

“The facility will not only improve the operational efficiency of the club, but will also create a sustainable revenue flow, ensuring that Gor Mahia remains competitive at both local and international levels.”

Formed in 1968, Gor Mahia has won Kenyan Premier League a record 21 times, and won the FKF President’s Cup of 11 times. They are the first and only team from Kenya to win a continental African title to date, after winning the African Cup winners in 1987 after previously reached the final in 1979.

In 1976, Gor Mahia won the invincible National League and repeated the same feat 39 years under the leadership of Frank Nuttall. They are currently attending a third consecutive title, as they sit in third place on the 18 -team league table with 50 points, two less than Kenya police leaders FC and one less than the second in the country panting.
