Scotland End Pacific Tour predominantly with seven test victory over Samoa
Scotland proved very strong for Samoa as they finished their tournament with three Pacific matches with a comprehensive 41-12 triumph in their test in Eden Park in Auckland on Friday.
Scotswith nine players away with British and Irish Lions in Tour in Australia, Outscored Samoa Seven try both with Ewan Ashman, Rory Hutchinson, Arron Reed, Kyle Steyn, Grant Gilchrist, Kyle Rowe and George Turner all passing. Fergus Burke put two conversions and George Horne One.
Benjamin Petaia Nee-Nee and Duncan Paia’a’a made efforts for Samoa, who had abundant support, but put on a divided show in their first international since last September.
The first four rehearsals if Scotland enjoyed a healthy 22-0 lead at rest while wild scrumhalf Jamie Dobie played a central role in setting their results.
It was his smart blow after eight minutes that he won a formation and placed the successor Maul for the first test for Ashman, who along with Propu Rory Sutherland flies to Australia on Sunday to join the lions as a cover.
Hutchinson’s exam five minutes later came after a smart chip through Samoa’s protection from his partner in the stafford McDowall with the long passing of the Reed to the left arm seeing Scotland going back to the 31st minute.
Another blow from Dobie won Scotland a lineup near the Samoa tryline from which a series of long passing found space for Stey to enter the opposite arm.
Scotland continued the five-minute marking in the second half through Gilchrist but then a rare defense mistake allowed Samoa Lock Nee-Nee to tapping near the line and pass for their first result.
A spectacular diving in the corner from Rowe in the 55th minute kept the tourists well in command, but five minutes later the Paia’aua center withdrew tired the tired Scots to get Samoa’s second test.
However, Scotland ended the game with another Power Power show with Turner pushing for their last test three minutes of time
They had started their tour in New Zealand with a victory over Maori All Blacks but then lost last weekend in Fiji.
Samoa, who had six debuts in their starting lineup, including the former International International Jacob Umaga, played the match in New Zealand because their stadium in Apia is undergoing renovations.
