Tour de France: The explosion of the Phase 19 cattle disease forces to be trimmed
Friday stage 19 in Tour de France was cut after a explosion of the nodular adhesive in cattle near Coli Saisies forced authorities to remove livestock and restrict access to the area, the organizers of the races said on Thursday.
Stage 129.9 km from Albertville in LA Wounds had to include the climb of Coli des Saisies, but the climb is now removed to avoid the affected area, ASO said in a statement.
“In the light of the concern experienced by the affected farmers and to maintain the smooth running of the race, it is placed, in agreement with the relevant authorities, to modify the road,” ASO said.
The ceremonial start will take place as planned in Albertville, followed by a neutralized section 7 km before the office began an hour later than planned.
The knights will reunite the original course just before the Beaufort, in the 52.4-km sign of the initial road.
As a result, the phase will now be reduced to 95 km.
The abbreviated phase still ends in LA wounds and comes only two days before the tournament ends in Paris on Sunday.
