The tributes have poured for the late Cornal Hendricks, with Cheslin Kolbe describing it as a “special human being inside and outside”.
South African Rugby announced on Thursday that Hendricks He had died at the age of 37 due to a heart attack. A host of former teammates have tried a 12-testing side, which marked five attempts for Springbox.
“Rip my brother you were a special human being inside and outside,” Colbe said on social media.
The Mtawarira Beast said: “This is cut deep. Gone very quickly.”
Hendricks played his first test for South Africa in June 2014, marking a test against Wales in debut. His most famous attempt in green and gold came against All Blacks in Wellington later that year, when he got a great line to cut inside the defense and score under posts.
Roof provided the inner ball Hendricks for this test, and on Thursday posted a picture of yourself and Hendricks with the title “Rip my brother”.
Hendricks retired from Rugby on a medical basis in 2015, but in 2019 made his return by signing for bullswhere he impressed until he left Loftus Versfeld at the end of last year. Jake White, the Hendrick coach in Pretoria, said Rugby had “lost one of the good”.
“When we had the opportunity to return it to the park, he took it with open wings and made a tremendous use of his second rent in Rugby Professional,” White said.
“We have all proven that he would not leave any stones intact as he inspired his teammates and the South African community through his story of hope and courage,” he adds.
“It was a privilege and an honor to be his coach, a fantastic model for the next generation and his appetite for life was infectious. Rugby lost one of the best today.”
Edgar Rathbone, Bulla’s chief executive, described the former Annator as a “special player who opposed all the chances”.
“We are deeply sad and still try to agree with the passage of Cornal, a beloved member of the Loftus family who was more than a talented player,” Said Rathbone.
“He knew how to give almost the right dose of energy to help set up a room, he was an iconic teammate, a friend for many seasons and an inspiring figure in the closet room.
“A brother, a boy and an inspiration for the elderly and the young. A man with such an infectious smile that illuminated our world, and above all, we knew Cornal as a proud father for his young children.
“We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family, his wife, children and all others affected by his premature and tragic death. A special player who opposed all chances and became our inspiration for all, he can rest in perfect peace.”
Mark Alexander, the president of Sa Rugby, also tried the former Blitzbox.
“We are deeply saddened by the sudden passage of Cornal Hendricks, a prominent athlete representing his country in seventeen rugby with a man of distinction,” Said Alexander.
“Cornal was one of those players who loved the game and he worked extremely hard, but he always did this with a smile on his face, treating all people with respect. His energy and love for life, inside and outside the field, raised his teammates and those around him.
“His contributions to this sport and his unwavering dedication will always be remembered. Our heartfelt condolences turn to his wife Stephanel and their children, his family, friends and teammates during this difficult time.
“Let his legacy continue to inspire future generations.”
