Australia lost the seven wickets for 68 runs in a dramatic collapse to be everyone for 225 on the day one of the third and last tests against West Indies in Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica.
West Indies finished day at 16 for one – 209 run back – after AustraliaMitchell Starc bent Kevlon Anderson outside the inner edge in the 100th test of Pacer.
Starc, 35, is only the second fast Australian player after Glenn Mcgrath playing 100 tests.
Australia won Toss and chose to boil first for the night test, but was destroyed despite being 157-3 in a phase while West Indies players were rejected in their middle order before being thrown down to 70.3 overs.
Usman Khawaja and Sam Constanta of Australia shared a 28-way opening partnership before Justin Greaves secured progress to the West Indies by removing Construction. Steve Smith best marked for Australia with 48, and shared a 61-manager with Cameron Green, the highest partnership of the day visitors.
The West Indies Quick Shamar Joseph ended with 4-33, the choice of home rods, while Jayden Seales and Justin Greaves took three wicets each.
For West Indies, Space Brandon King was falling eight with Skipper Roston Chase on three on the other end after losing Anderson for three runs.
West Indies set up a pair of makeshift cutters of Anderson and King after Micyle Louis and John Campbell suffered injuries while the campaign and were taken to the hospital for scans.
“Every pitch has been difficult. The more balls you spend in the middle, the hope the better, but it just hasn’t been so,“Green told the broadcasters.
“It is a bit of a fabrication for the first time with these balls, but many lessons. Time in the middle is essential – just trying to get used to their rods, their conditions.
“Very happy with our position (in this test). We wanted to give them a last complication the last 45 minutes. To subtract them one is essential, and we will wait and see what happens tomorrow.“
